THE STORY RECALLING THE MEMORIES OF 2013

http://www.studentlive.in/2013-whattey-year-fights-emotions-tragidies-finally-aap/

The New Year has come. The journey of time has unlocked a new chapter in its unending game of lives. Unlike the past few years, this New Year is a symbol of change. It is a bag full of expectations and hope to the entire nation. The unexpected happenings in the previous year have now turned out to great expectations. Time can only explain whether these expectations are going to succeed.
12-12-12; the entire world was either expectantly or satirically or hesitantly waiting for the End. Though the world has not ended, but by the end of the year, the faint sparks of hope and expectations have ended. 16th December, 2012, the entire nation was burning with protests against the filthy mindset of the people. It was probably the first time in the history of the nation that the entire country was protesting, not against a monarch, not against terrorism but against an abstract mindset of its citizens. The Nirbhaya incident has erased all the hopes of justice and peace in the country. Thus with not so expectant expectations the New Year was invited.
However, the year has witnessed many drastic changes in the organization of the society. Beginning from the anti corruption movement in 2012, initiated by Anna Hazare, the entire nation has started coming together onto a single platform to take various decisions. The Jan lokpal bill was moved, the system for fast track courts was launched, the RTI was put to better use and the sense of responsibility in the government was induced by the massive response to various issues.
The month of October has seen the entire nation cry after a legend wiped his tears. The God of cricket has left and all the disciples have bid him a wet farewell , thus inviting hundreds of Sachins to reign the kingdom .The country has seen the Mars Orbiter Mission launch successfully in space and the nation has “Run for Unity” to initiate the construction of the world’s tallest monument. Thus, the entire year of 2013 has got its dates written in gold in the history of the vast nation.
The year has begun with the Maha Kumbh Mela in Allahabad, paving way for millions of prayers to soar high in the skies but leaving hundreds of souls to rest forever in peace. The terrorist attacks at Dilsukhnagar have taken more lives. The giant landslide in the Uttarakhand valley has shown the real scenario of the end of the world. Thousands of innocent lives were lost as sacrifice to the frustrated nature. The end of the world which was planned for 2012 for the entire world has proved to have come to life at this point of time in this region of the world.  Besides, the Government negligence has taken many lives in different train and bus accidents. Though, the year has almost turned out to be a black period in the history of the nation, it has not succeeded in stealing the courage and unity of the nation.
The disastrous situations might have been successful in taking live but they were an absolute failure in destroying hope.  The old year has given the apt start to the new year of change. The Oscar has bestowed its showers on the Indian film and the Jadu has cleanly swept filthy politics off the ground. Citizens started growing vigilant and the media started being responsible. Thus with new hopes and new resolutions, the year has paved a wonderful path for the coming year. Expecting a new Government, new cricketers, new policies, new films and new happiness, let us welcome the grand New Year 2014

Open Letter 2

Dear Society, How are you? I hope this letter finds you in jest and jubilation. I am not sure about your mood but I was in real jubilation when I went to a hospital last week to confirm my pregnancy status. You should have seen the hospital with its looks nothing short of a corporate office. I have seen those grand hoardings quite a number of times, but one got to enter those buildings to get the real feel of it. The hospital that I visited is completely dedicated to mother and child care. It struck me unusual that such a huge building with its innumerable staff exists only to serve mothers and their children. The next time someone tells me women are not given respect in our country, I will take them to visit my hospital. One tour around those multiple stories would make even a radical feminist to concede that we do respect our women. Well, at least until they see those countless boards claiming that sex-determination tests are not done in their hospitals. Those boards are anywhere and...

Open Letter - 15

Dear Society, How are you? I am fine and I hope this letter finds you hale and healthy. Though it sounds a mere pleasantry, I want you to understand that every time I begin a letter, I truly hope to find you healthy because only when you have a healthy body can you think with a rational mind. You might find it difficult to believe me, but I have literally started living on fruits. I, who five months ago wouldn’t mind to steal a glance at a fruit stall, am now finding myself bargaining with every fruit vendor on road. Sometimes I feel there is no great relationship in the world than the one between a mother and her child. Women rarely give importance to their health but when they have a child in their womb, none can beat them at health and hygiene.   On one such fruit-stall-outing, I happened to look at a side-street aglow with a dull street lamp. At the corner of the street stood a little boy frozen to the spot under the street lamp. My recently acquired motherly instinct pushed...
