The Untold Story - A STORY NARRATING THE CRUELTY OF MAN

Have you ever thought why animals don’t talk and trees don’t walk? Well, it is a long story that happened millions of years ago. It was long back, when all the living creatures had legs to walk and a voice to talk. The world was so lively then, with all the living beings singing and dancing all day. The trees were considered the oldest and the wisest of all while man was said to be the most ignorant (which was later proved to be wrong).

One fine evening when the cool breeze was tickling the air and the sun was playing hide and seek with the clouds, a sharp lightening struck the land. A sudden sense of fear crept throughout the air. Slowly the clouds swallowed the sun and had turned black. The living forms were afraid that it is the end of their lives. Their fear was soon confirmed by a loud thunder that was followed by a violent down pour. The creatures who never knew RAIN started running for their lives. But the rain never seemed to give a break and the world seemed to end.
The tree which was the tallest of all halted and thought for a second. It then stretched its hands wide apart and called all the living beings to stand under it. The creatures had all taken shelter under the tree and had survived from the rain. The rain stopped after two days and by then the tree was completely drenched in water. But it was happy that it saved the lives of all its friends.
All the beings but man were thankful for the selfless act of the tree. Man on the other hand had different thoughts. He was thinking of his future and was afraid that the tree would not help him every time it rained. So he quietly approached it and stabbed it in the back. The tree fell down, struck a stone and died. Man cruelly cut her arms and made a house out of its wood. All the animals were dumb found on seeing the cruel nature of man. The remaining trees had raised their hands, stretched them wide apart and lived their entire lives in the same posture. The animals bent their heads low unwilling to see the cruel face of man and started walking on four legs. The birds for the first time used their wings and flew high into the sky away from man and the fish jumped deep into the sea afraid of staying with man. Man then declared himself the most developed race of the world and had laid his reign on all the living forms.

Even today trees don’t talk or walk while the animals only walk. The birds live only on the trees and the fish never live out of water. But, man has still not stopped axing trees, hunting animals, shooting birds and catching fish because he is still the most developed race of the world and works for the well being of the entire world.

The Story of the Soul unconcerned about the External World

“Great art is the outward expression of an inner life in the artist, and this inner life will result in his personal vision of the world”, said Edward Hopper, a prominent American realist painter. The saying might seem to be related to art as it is said by an artist but in reality it relates to all walks of life. Any great deed by an individual always turns out to be the expression of one’s own inner life. That is the reason why great art always walks hand in hand with solace. In the absence of this inner life, people tend to win over the material world with their deeds and thus become a slave to its desires.  It is the presence of the inner life that keeps men stable and unmoved to any fluctuations in the outer world and thus places them in a greater position than the rest.
